Resting on a turned central column, with lotus leaf carving,

on a large plate-form base, with turned feet and concealed castors.

AN IMPORTANT PAIR OF SPECIMEN TABLES

The circular tops with radiating bands of specimen marbles, including amethyst, malachite, porphyry, pietra paescene and agates with a central tablet of lapis lazuli, set within a verde antico border, the simulated rosewood bases cross-banded with an ebony border, on a carved acanthus edge with a moulded bead & reel frieze, supported by three sabre legs with carved acanthus and rosettes, on a plate-form base with a central carving of pomigrainettes, resting on bold scroll feet.

Footnote, The firm of Gillow's of Lancaster and London where one of the most renound Cabinet makers of the 18th and early 19th century, no other cabinet makers were in business for so long or had a show room and workshop in 18th century London as well as Lancaster receiving commission from many of the Great English Houses such as Hackwood Park Hampshire , Wentworth Woodhouse Yorkshire, Tatton Park Cheshire.

A PAIR OF GEORGE III MAHOGANY GAMES TABLES IN THE MANNER OF THOMAS CHIPPENDALE

An exceptional pair of George III mahogany concertina action card tables in the manner of Thomas Chippendale,

the superbly figured rectangular mahogany book matched tops, carved with a floral patria edge on a punched background,

above a plain frieze with a carved gadrooned edge, resting on elegantly carver cabriole legs,

with ball and claw feet, retaining wonderful original colour and patina.

A GEORGE IV MAHOGANY JUPES TABLE

A Very Large and extremely rare William 1V Mahogany Extending Jupes Table

By Johnstone and Jeanes

The round extendable top with two original sets of leaves, retaining the original leaf holder, resting on a central pillar with four shoot of moulded

sabre legs on later brass cup castors, the well figured mahogany top measures 5ft 8inches when closed and expands to make a 

7ft round table with the smaller leaves or a 9ft round table with the larger leaves, the design for these tables patent

in 1835 by Robert Jupe and John Jonstone 67 New Bond street London, By 1842 Jupe had left the partnership, which then became Jonstone & Jeanes.

Johnston retained the patient for the table invented by Jupe.

This is one of the larges examples of these table, It retains the original Johnston & Jean Stamped tablet.
