The rectangular leather inset top with a cross-banded moulded edge,

and a lift up central panel, above three freeze drawers, support by three drawers on each side,

with panelled sides a central panel door, finished on the reverse with dummy drawers and a central panel.

AN IMPORTANT REGENCY BURR OAK PARTNERS DESK

An Important Regency Burr Oak Writing Table 

The rectangular top with a thick band of burr oak and black leather writing surface

with two draw leaf ends, above six opposing well shaped drawers, with ebonized

mouldings, resting on superbly carved winged ebonized oak Gryphons, with interlocking tails.

The design for this table closely relates to many of the etchings published in 1798 by Charle Heathcote Tatham

Ancient Ornamental Architecture, drawn from the originals in Rome and other parts of Italy,

By the early 1800s designs from the Ancient world where at the height of fashion,

Pieces like this can be seen in designs by Thomas hope and George Bullock, who was commissioned to make

a similar burr oak and ebonized writing table for Emperor Napoleon when he was exiled on Saint Helena.

A LARGE SCOTTISH REGENCY MAHOGANY CENTRE TABLE

The circular figured mahogany top with a reeded edge, above a 

figured mahogany frieze with carved rosettes, the hexagonal stem of the base carved

with anthemion's, resting on bold acanthus leaves, the plate-form with an ebony border,

above lions paw feet.
